Nancy’s Hustle is a special place.

So special, in fact, that it was just named one of Thrillist’s top best new restaurants in the country, in the company of just 12 other establishments. It was the only Texas representative, and we couldn’t be more proud to call it a neighborhood restaurant.

Citing the “cozy basement” decor and the famous reel-to-reel sound system, it’s clear that Thrillist’s Senior Food Editor, Khushbu Shah, appreciates the restaurant’s aesthetic and its laid-back but stylish appeal.

Of course, the design of a restaurant is only part of the equation, and we’re just as enamored with the restaurant’s rabbit “wings”, dumplings, Parmesan cheesecake and drink offerings as Shah. Though there’s no mention of the famous Nancy cakes in the article, that may be due to the many accolades showered on them from other food editors like Esquire’s Jeff Gordinier, who just named Nancy’s Hustle one of his 20 Best New Restaurants in America, likening the restaurant to “a roadside diner in which a bunch of Michelin-starred talents are secretly hiding out, thanks to the witness-protection program.”

We’re glad to see a homegrown spot get the praise and recognition it deserves. It was obvious to EaDo residents Nancy’s Hustle was special, but it looks like the word is out nationwide.
