HISD gets ready for summer food distribution

As the school year comes to an end, Houston Independent School District (HISD) begins its transition of summer food distribution. Beginning June 1, HISD families will be given student meals twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. Each student will receive up to seven box meals both days, each containing a days’ worth of food. Sixty-eight locations are designated pickup spots and can be found online

 

10 high school seniors get a surprise visit from Interim Superintendent

The HISD Superintendent Scholars Award usually takes place at school which wasn’t a possibility this year. HISD Interim Superintendent, Dr. Grenita Lathan, took it upon herself to celebrate this year’s winners by surprising the 10 high school seniors at their homes with their $5000 scholarship checks. Local business updates

 

District 7 EaDo

District 7 is among the restaurants that have expanded their restaurant to 50% occupancy. Although the occupancy limits don’t apply to their outdoor area, they do ask restaurant-goers to maintain safe distance among parties. Among the updates, grilled oysters are back on the menu. 

 

Kim Son Restaurant
Kim Son in EaDo is now open for dine-in service. Their current hours are Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Take-out is still available by calling 713-222-2461. Keep up with their weekend specials here.

 

Chapman & Kirby

Your favorite corner gastrolounge is debuting new menu items. Stop by to check things out Wednesday through Saturday starting at 4 p.m.


EaDo Fitness

EaDo Fitness is back in business with a few updates to their gym, but before you put on your gym wear here are a couple of things you should know before you visit: 

-Drop-ins (non-members) will be allowed in the gym beginning June 1.
-RSVPs are still required before you arrive at the gym for class on your TRIIB app as limited spaces are available to allow for social distancing.

-Members will receive a 50% discount on their June membership fees.
