Since its opening on May 12, 2012, the BBVA Compass Stadium in EaDo has been the host of many international soccer games, rugby games, and concerts. But as of June 13, the bright orange stadium known as the home to Houston’s Dynamo and Dash soccer teams has a new, shortened moniker: BBVA.

Why the change? The international bank is known by different names in several countries, and the name change reflects the company’s new branding plan to create a unified front on a global level. Changes have already been implemented in countries such as Argentina (Francés), Mexico (Bancomer), Peru (Continental), and now the United States (Compass).

Though the sign outside the stadium has now changed to BBVA, it could change again. BBVA holds naming rights for three more years, as part of their 10-year deal when the stadium first opened.
