Mayor Turner Announces Second Term Agenda During Inauguration
During Mayor Turner’s inauguration on January 2, he announced his agenda for a second term. On the list: partnerships to reduce homelessness, expanding the city’s digital innovation economic sector, and plans to improve neighborhood parks. Dash Captain Kealia Ohai Trades her Dash Jersey for the Chicago Red Stars
Fans were surprised when the Houston Dash announced their trade of forward Kealia Ohai to the Chicago Red Stars for defender Katie Naughton earlier this week. Ohai has been with the club since it was first established in 2014 as the team’s first draft pick in club history. She has since made a name for herself as a leader on the team as captain and a star player.
Mayor Turner Makes a Friendly Wager with Kansas City
Mayor Turner and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas have agreed to a food-filled wager in anticipation of the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs playoff game this Sunday, January 12. Mayor Turner wagered authentic Mexican food from local favorite Irma’s Original Restaurant and Mayor Lucas has agreed to Boulevard beer and Gates BBQ.
New Rooftop Bar Sunset Opening Soon in EaDo
After collecting $150,000 to complete construction in the crowd investing platform NextSeed, Sunset bar is set to open January 17 on 2119 Dallas Street. The bar is set to attract many people to EaDo with its 1,600-square-foot rooftop, perfect for capturing views of the Houston skyline.

Start the new year on a healthy note and join EaDo Bike Co. this Saturday for their weekly early morning bike ride. Gathering time is 7 a.m., with the crew heading out at 7:30 a.m. for a 25-30 mile bike run, which sometimes includes a coffee shop pit stop.
CONCACAF: Women’s Olympic Qualifying
BBVA will be hosting Group A of the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic soccer qualifying tournament. The group consists of Costa Rica, Haiti, Panama, and the current world champs, the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT). The matches begin on January 28 with a doubleheader of Costa Rica vs. Panama and USWNT vs. Haiti. Tickets range from $22 to $197 and are still available online.
