Open for just over a month in its location at 2102 Pease Street, Alchemy Salon is already making a statement with EaDo residents.
Owner Jacky Madrid is a Paul Mitchell school graduate with seven years’ experience in the hair industry, and helms a team of three other stylists, including Shannon Moore, who was kind enough to share her expert advice on the biggest styles for spring and summer of 2019.
For women, gone are the days of chunky highlights. Moore notes that Balayage, the technique of hand painting highlights, is popular right now because the look is more “lived-in” and natural in color, even if that means leaning into the gray.
When it comes to styling and blowouts, Moore says, “Texture is big. Think beachy waves, SoCal.”
For men, pompadours are back. Moore notes that they’re not exactly Elvis-pronounced, but they’re definitely big and brushed back. For color, a little bit of silver is an option.
Haircuts for women start at $50, while men’s cuts start at $25. The most expensive service is a Brazilian Blowout for $200.
In addition to the services, customers are already praising the atmosphere and energy of Alchemy Salon, a great and needed addition to the neighborhood.
