Happening this week: Judge Lina Hidalgo sets mandatory fask mask order, the Dash family makes masks for the community, and EaDo residents stay connected while social distancing.

Judge Hidalgo issues face mask order for Harris County
Beginning Monday, April 27, all Harris County residents ages 10 and older will be required to wear a face mask in public places for 30 days. The order was made to flatten the curve of hospital admissions, and those who are noncompliant will be subjected to a fine.

Judge Hidalgo also stated that purchasing a face mask isn’t required, as they can be made with materials found at home. Check out Houston Chronicle’s article for more details and the latest updates. Local business EaDo Bike Co. is currently providing free masks for their customers.

Dash family make masks for the community

Houston Dash season ticket member Helen Stewart, BBVA Stadium staffer Lana Ramirez, and Dash team trainer Frances Gilbert have teamed up for a good cause to provide protective masks and bonnets for those on the frontlines—including friends and family. You can read all about their efforts here

EaDo residents connect through chalk

If you’ve been admiring the lovely chalk messages left behind by EaDo residents on the Columbia Tap Trail, you can thank Laura Nicoloff for the idea. Laura came up with the lovely idea to help build that human connection that has been missing due to social distancing. You can find the chalk messages between Paige Street and Ennis Street and you can read more about Laura Nicoloff here.
