Oh, the places you’ll go on EaDo’s Rail Line. The terminal at Stadium Station, located at Texas Avenue and Dowling Streets, is itself worth a visit for the sports-themed design which pays homage to the Texans, Astros, Rockets, and of course the Dynamo and the Dash, whose state-of-the-art stadium is just next door.
Stadium Station is served by both the Green line and the Purple line. On the Green line, it’s a short ride to the Theatre District where you can see a performance at the Hobby Center or Alley Theatre, or catch the symphony at Jones Hall. If you want to grab dinner Downtown before the show, you can hop off at the Central Station for a wealth of options. The Purple line can also get you to the Theatre District and downtown but it also heads south at its other end, giving you access to the University of Houston and Texas Southern University.
At Central Station, it’s an easy transfer to the Red line, which is your ticket to all things cowboy for the Houston Rodeo at NRG Park as well as stops at Hermann Park and the Museum District. Riders can also take the line up to Moody Park and Lindale Park communities, near the Houston Heights. For baseball enthusiasts, the rail is a sure fire way to circumvent traffic and get to the Astros’ opening day festivities on time.
