COVID-19 may have prevented the opening of the usual cooling centers provided by the City’s Beat the Heat program, but Mayor Turner, along with Reliant and Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, have provided alternatives to help Houston residents keep cool at home this summer. The program this year will provide assistance by distributing portable AC units, care packages, financial assistance and energy efficiency information for Houstonians in need.
