TIRZ 15 Mobility Plan Award Announcement

The East Downtown Redevelopment Authority (EDRA / TIRZ 15) is excited to announce that the 2022 Mobility Plan has received prestigious recognition from both the Texas Chapter and the Houston section of the American Planning Association (APA) for its exceptional achievements in Public Outreach!

• Houston Section – Gold 
• Texas Chapter of APA – Silver 

The APA 2023 Texas Planning Award recognizes individuals, organizations, and communities for outstanding contributions to planning in Texas. Any APA Texas member may nominate plans, projects, programs, individuals, or organizations to several categories. The Awards Committee evaluates nominees based on originality and innovation, engagement, implementation and effectiveness, quality, and promotion of planning. 

The Public Outreach Award honors an individual, project, or program that uses information and education about the value of planning to create greater awareness among citizens or specific segments of the public. The award celebrates how planning improves a community’s quality of life. 

This recognition would not have been possible without the support and collaboration of the dedicated East Downtown community and stakeholders. Special thanks to TEI Planning + Design for leading this planning effort. 

As we celebrate this achievement, TIRZ 15 remains committed to our goals to improve public facilities and infrastructure necessary to promote pedestrian-friendly environments and to catalyze residential and commercial development and redevelopment within the Zone boundaries. We look forward to continuing our efforts to improve East Downtown!
